My personal Calming Tea Blend

My personal Calming Tea Blend

1L of Water
A palmful of Chamomile, to soothe the inflammatory system
A palmful of edible Lavender buds, for its calming sedative qualities
A palmful of Lemongrass, for its calming qualities
A pinch of Tulsi seeds or Tulsi leaves, to reduce anxiety and nervous system inflammation
A palmful of Ginkgo Biloba, for its cardiovascular benefits to pump more blood, more life
3 pinches of Turmeric powder

Optional:
A handful of Pennyworth
Fennel seeds
Freshly cut ginger slices
Lemon slice

So this blend is my own personal blend I came up with with my Ayurvedic studies. I'm sure there are some calming teas that have most if not all of the ingredients here as these herbs are all very famous for their calming, anti inflammatory, nervous system booster qualities.

I chose these herbs because if you like loose leaf tea, your cupboard probably has these ingredients already. Nothing here is too out there or hard to find, with the expectation of the pennywort (centella asiatica) because I could only find it online or in a specialized asian food market. Pennyworth is a classic Ayurdevic herb for anxiety and if you can find it easily, go for it!

The Fennel seeds I leave as optional because its taste is very characteristic and I don´t think it blends well with the Chamomile, Lavender, and Lemongrass in the blend. I like the flowers taking more of a center taste because flowers, to me, are very calming. I feel myself in a summer field, with wild chamomile and lavender wafting on a warm breeze.

Place the blend ingredients in almost boiling water (it should have small bubbles in the pot starting to go to the surface), let it steep for 5 min or so. Too much time and it burns the flowers and it kinda goes bitter real quick. You can always put the flowers back in to steep a little more, so don't let it stay in too long at first.

I also like to add a slice or two of freshly cut ginger and a slice of lemon to the mug I'm going to drink from, for the anti-inflammatory benefits and for the delicious taste.
